The Carnival Show | Wednesday | 7pm – 9pm
Bill Bevan – Carnival Show Co-Host
If there’s one voice that captures the colour, excitement, and tradition of Somerset’s famous carnivals, it’s Bill Bevan. Since 2018, Bill has been the host of The Carnival Show on Sedgemoor fm… a programme that not only celebrates Bridgwater’s world-famous carnival, but also shines a spotlight on the many processions and events that take place across the South West each year.
The Carnival Show has been running since 2014, and under Bill’s stewardship it’s become a true celebration of carnival culture. The show, which runs every Wednesday evening, keeps listeners up-to-date with the spectacular processions, interviews with carnivalites, and the behind-the-scenes passion that makes these events possible. And it’s not just locals tuning in, Bill’s show has found an audience both here in Somerset and with carnival fans across the globe.
For Bill, presenting is about keeping the carnival spirit alive all year long. Whether it’s sharing a hidden gem from a guest interview or slipping some classic “cheese” tracks into the playlist, his show is packed with light-hearted fun. His most memorable moments? The nerve-racking live shows, including his very first broadcast and that first show back in the studio after COVID – experiences that tested him but made him even more passionate about radio.
Away from the mic, Bill is a proud supporter of local events and businesses, and he’s not shy about speaking up on local issues like roadworks planning. He’s also got a creative streak, practising the art of traditional hand signwriting in his spare time.
So why tune in? As Bill puts it: “It’s a bit of light-hearted fun mid-week, and there are hundreds of different events put on by carnival clubs every year. We might just have something you’ll really enjoy!”
Listeners should tune into Bill Bevan, and his co-host Ben Hucker for a show that’s all things carnival.
