The free Bridgwater Playday, held on Wednesday 5 August at St Matthew’s Field, has been hailed a success, with an estimated 3,000 children, parents and guardians attending throughout the day.
The event returned to St Matthew’s Field for its second year, transforming it into a vibrant hub of play and activity, highlighting the importance of accessible outdoor spaces and showcasing the field as a valued community asset at the heart of Bridgwater.
Visitors enjoyed more than 30 activities and attractions, including inflatables, a climbing wall, sports activities, magicians, birds of prey displays and a wide range of interactive entertainment, providing fun and excitement for children of all ages.
The organisers would like to thank this year’s supporters, including the HPC Community Fund, Co-op Funeralcare and Sedgemoor FM, whose contributions helped make the event possible.
A special thank you goes to Bridgwater Rotary Club for managing the event car parking. Rotary volunteers worked throughout the day to ensure parking ran smoothly and have generously pledged all proceeds from the car park to help fund Playday 2027.
Organisers would also like to thank everyone who made donations during the event. These contributions play a vital role in helping to keep Playday free for local families and support plans for next year’s event.
While Playday 2026 may be over, there is still time for residents and businesses to contribute towards the future of this much-loved community event.
