James Laver | Sundays | 7pm-9pm
James Laver
When James Laver first tuned into Sedgemoor fm on his car radio after moving to Somerset, he knew local radio was where he wanted to be. Just two years later, James is one of our youngest on-air presenters, and he’s quickly become a familiar, friendly voice in the community.
James describes his show as “a couple of hours of waffling and chatting,” where the music he plays sparks conversations that often lead to fun tangents. From rock classics like Sweet Child O’ Mine to a little Lady Gaga when he can sneak it in, James’ playlists are as varied and lively as his personality.
For James, presenting on Sedgemoor fm is more than just being on the radio… it’s about people. “I love interacting with everyone who makes it possible,” he says. “It’s boosted my confidence and introduced me to some amazing people.”
Community is at the heart of everything James does. He’s especially passionate about supporting local businesses, reminding listeners to “Think Local First.” A highlight for him was being part of Sedgemoor fm’s Tonnes for Tins Christmas campaign, his first big community event and one he’s incredibly proud of.
When he’s not on air, James can usually be found enjoying the stunning Somerset views, swapping stories with fellow presenters (with a special nod to Dave Englefield for his mentoring), or joking about his “spur of the moment” takes on music.
Always cheerful, slightly unpredictable, and completely dedicated to Sedgemoor, James Laver is proof that local radio is about more than just music — it’s about community, connection, and a few laughs along the way.
Listeners should tune into James Laver on a Sunday night for chatting, music and a bit of waffling!
