teaching Romanians English

Many Romanians who move to the UK don’t know how to speak English. This can be a hindrance, slowing or stopping their job prospects, thus making it hard to get a house or even make friends. This is no longer a problem, as you will read in this article, there is a new online program that helps with teaching Romanians English.

The main reason for Romanians to come to the UK is to live a better life and improve their future prospects, but finding the resources, that help make the transition smooth, isn’t always easy.

Bridgwater based, Amalia Bhalli, and her team of teachers help with the transition, teaching Romanians English and how English people themselves speak and act.

It’s incredibly important work because it helps to improve the life’s of the Romanian people and bridges the gap between Romanian and English cultures.

Who is Amalia Bhalli?

Amalia Bhalli is a 29-year-old British-Romanian who moved to the UK, aged just, 19. She studied English, Business, and tutoring English at University because she likes teaching and enjoys learning more about Britain and its people.

Two years ago, when she moved to Bridgwater, she realised that many of the 4000 Romanians here have struggled with either the time or resources to learn English properly. As a fluent English speaker, she can fill that gap.

Why do Romanians need help?

Romanians move to the UK for various reasons, such as more freedom or better jobs. Others, like Bhalli, just want a clean slate, in a new country. Due to either leaving in a rush or not seeing a need to, most Romanians in the UK or traveling to the UK never learned English properly, or none at all.

Without knowing English, many people will struggle to get a job and a place to live. This is where Bhalli comes in. She teaches conversationalist English to Romanians so that they can get a job, and a house. It also enables them to talk to English people and make friends.

Most of Bhalli students are adults, and to help them she uses a phycological approach, helping them gain more confidence in conversational English. In younger generations, like current teenagers, English is taught more widely in schools and a common language online.

Breaking language barriers

Bhalli doesn’t just teach Romanians English. She also connects different cultures by breaking cultural barriers. She also breaks the barriers of fear, shame, and making mistakes; pushing her students to not be afraid of messing up.

To date, Bhalli has helped over 450 people to learn and to feel confident with the English language. She helps people to adapt to the English mentality and help them understand cultural differences.

With Bhalli’s learning techniques, it can take only 6 months to reach a conversational level, although this varies from person to person.

Supporting other cultures with English

To help support other non-English speaking communities, Bhalli also wants to help French, Spanish, and Portuguese natives speak English better. She is also looking to expand into more international communities by offering online classes to students across seas.

Amalia Bhalli learning courses

Bhalli’s academy has three different courses:

  • General English course (beginner – conversationist)
  • One-to-one (beginner – conversationist)
  • Business English and Cross-Cultural communication (advanced)

Her classes are all live interaction and will have 3 – 6 students to ensure that they can all be taught properly.
